About us
The Lateinamerika Verein (LAV) was founded in 1916 by merchants from Hamburg. Today it is an intersectoral professional association active on a nationwide basis. Members of the association are mainly industrial and foreign trade companies from different fields of business e.g. transportation, finances and law.The board of management is composed of managers and board members of the associated companies. The main focus of its work is the support of German companies in their business activities in Latin America and the promotion of the private economy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The association presents itself as a meeting platform for German and Latin American decision-makers from politics and economy.
Our Services:
Advisory Service
The LAV provides inidividual support and consulting to its members on any question related to foreign trade issues, for example regarding the risk evaluation of a country or the local business environment. The association supports its members in the search for trade, cooperation and investment opportunities, provides information and offers contacts to private partners, institutions and law firms.
Up-to-date information
Our association informs members on a monthly basis about the current political and economic development and the future prospects of Latin American countries. Furthermore, the LAV also offers information concerning business and trade activities, as well as current events.
Contacts and Exchange of Experience
The LAV organises meetings, conferences ans business trips to Latin America in order to give its members the possibility to establish new contacts and to facilitate an intensive exchange of information and experience between entrepreneurs and politicians.
The annual highlight of these events is the Day of the Americas. Guest of honour and speaker at the final gala dinner is the president of a Latin American country.
The internal exchange of experience between association members takes place in the country sections and the law and tax committee.
Lobbying
Our association represents the interests of its members in mixed commissions, interministerial state committees and relevant committees of private enterprises. In this context, the LAV is decisively involved in the "Latin American Initiative of the German Private Sector” (Lateinamerika-Initiative der Deutschen Wirtschaft), which is also formed by the BDI, BGA, BdB and DIHK.
LAV Junioren-Platform for young professionals
LAV Junioren is a platform for young professionals and company owners. The main objective of this platform is to build up a network in Germany and in Latin America with the help of local contacts.
E-Trade Center
The E-Trade-Center offers a fast, efficient and economic way to establish first contacts with potential cooperation partners. It contains short company portraits that can be found according to lines of business, Latin American countries and special contact requests.
