I address you in view of my upcoming visit to Germany, a country with which Paraguay shares a long and fruitful relationship. The important migration that started already in the 19th century has created deep and visible bonds between our countries. The effort and hard work of generations of Germans and their descendants have brought development throughout various regions of Paraguay and allowed the foundation of industries that are now national flagships. My goal and desire is that these constructive relations will be deepened and, in that sense, to strengthen trade, investment and technology exchanges. Our shared values, such as the moral awareness regarding democracy and human rights, as well as a common interest in a more open and fairer world provide a solid foundation for this endeavor. Paraguay is a country that is committed to hard work and, as such, is convinced that business leadership is an engine for development. In our quest to attract foreign investment, we open our doors to the world and present ourselves as a safe, reliable and stable country in the heart of South America. Germany, for its part, is a European leader and a thriving economic power. The strength of its small and medium-sized enterprises, its respected vocational training system and its leadership in the development of renewable energies are examples worldwide and constitute potential areas of collaboration between our countries. Our ultimate goal is to work together for sustainable development and economic growth which will translate into greater well-being and better living conditions for our nations. We are confident that our relationship with Germany can play an important role in this regard. That is why we extend our invitation to the companies and leaders of this country, hoping to create strategic partnerships of mutual benefit. H.E.
