IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH is a German agricultural consulting company with 40 years of experience in the field of consulting in the agriculture and rural development sectors in Germany and abroad. Since 1981 we have been implementing agricultural projects in developing and emerging countries on behalf of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), EU, World Bank and other public and private clients in more than 30 countries worldwide.

We are currently planning to submit a bit for a BMEL tender. In this context we are looking for an expert for the LTE 2 position as follows:
Long-term expert (m/f/d) for the German-Brazilian Agricultural Policy Dialogue (APD)
Location: Brasília (Brazil)
Donor: BMEL (German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture)
Duration: 04/2021 to 05/2022 with a probable extension until 03/2024
Objective: Policy-makers, experts, and executives from the German and Brazilian agricultural sectors have a better mutual understanding of central agricultural policy issues. [For the implementation phase from 06/2022: transferred know-how finds its way into political decision-making processes.]
Results of the inception phase:
Result 1: The organizational and control units of the APD are defined and capable of acting.
Result 2: Two thematic working groups on sustainable agricultural value chains and agricultural finance have been set up.
Result 3: A German-Brazilian bio-economy network was set up by the APD and is being supported by it.
Note: The project is in the tendering phase. Deadline: March 15, 2021.
Tasks:
Support of the leading specialist in carrying out her/his tasks
Organization and support of short-term experts in their scientific work
Liaison point for representatives of the Brazilian agricultural policy institutional network
Liaison point for representatives of the Brazilian agribusiness network and other relevant civil society actors
Initiation of contacts to relevant scientific institutions, think tanks, NGOs and international organizations for proactive programme design
Support in creating the map of actors
Gathering and interpreting information relevant to the achievement of results 1-3
Support in setting up and developing a digital M&E system
Public relations and communication
You should have at least the following qualifications:
Completed university degree (master's or equivalent) in agricultural sciences, political science, international relations or a similar subject
Several years (three years or more) of professional experience in a public, civil society, scientific or private institution in the agricultural sector
Very good knowledge of the Portuguese language and at least a good command of spoken and written English
The following qualifications/experiences are rated positively:
Technical background:
Knowledge of the institutional framework of the Brazilian agricultural policy and the agribusiness landscape of Brazil
Experience in communication and public relations
Experience of working in an international environment
University degree in agricultural sciences, political science, international relations or the like
Regional expertise and language skills:
Professional experience in Germany or the EU as well as in Brazil
Knowledge of spoken and written German
Methodical skills:
Experience in preparing studies and policy recommendations
Intercultural communication and networking skills
Experience in politically sensitive contexts
Experience in the field of results-oriented monitoring
