October 14–16, 2025 I Georgetown, Guyana

Hosted by the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) and supported by the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) and the Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA), IBC has emerged as one the region's foremost platform for investment, innovation, and international partnership.

The 2025 edition marks the third IBC conference, bringing together government leaders, private sector decision-makers, and investors from across the Caribbean, South America, and beyond. Around 700 business delegates and decision-makers, along with approximately 2,000 visitors for the B2B trade exhibition are expected to participate. We kindly ask you to share this information with your respective trade promotion agencies to encourage a stronger EU presence at IBC Guyana 2025 (for reference in 2024, 5 European companies participated).

The EU Delegation is also exploring the possibility of sponsoring this event, by setting up an EU booth, and delivering presentations on the EPA Free Trade Agreement and a regional program, “EU-LAC Digital Accelerator,” designed to connect business from large corporations to start-ups and innovative SMEs. This initiative aims to foster partnerships between European companies and their LAC counterparts.

From November 20 to 22, 2023, the EU is organising an EU Global Gateway Economic Mission to Guyana, with a view to foster investment of EU companies in sectors that are crucial for the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda (GGIA) that was adopted during the EU-LAC Summit in July. This includes Forestry, including agriculture and sustainable timber products, Renewable Energy, Water Management, Health and Connectivity, including transport and digitalisation (GGIA for Guyana attached).

Guyana is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and an important EU partner on climate related agenda. The moment is decisive for the country to undertake a green and inclusive growth model, which is the objective of the investment opportunities under GGIA.

The mission expects to mobilise around 30-40 EU companies interested to invest in the country and EU development partners. During the 3-day mission, EU companies will have the opportunity to get valuable insights on trade and investment opportunities, including exchange with political masters and EU public representatives on public-private collaboration, participate to B2B networking sessions, as well as to field visits.

EU interested companies to join the mission can register at the officialwebpage of the EU Global Gateway Economic Mission to Guyana.

Additionally, there will be a Webinar on EU Global Gateway Economic Mission: new business opportunities in Guyana, Emerging Regional Hub for the Caribbean, Amazonia and beyondon October 20 at 14:30 CET (link to register in Zoom), for further information and questions. Free Webinar from Americas Market Intelligence (AMI): December 8, 2021 | 12:30 PM EST

With 25 billion barrels of estimated oil, Guyana and Suriname could generate close to US$400 billion in government income in the next few decades.
But with the world moving toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, investor attitudes towards these markets are shifting.

AMI will explore this and other strategic questions in this webinar with a panel of experts that will include oil industry executives, as well as the Guyanese government, moderated by Arthur Deakin, co-director of AMI’s energy market research practice.

Among the topics we’ll cover:

  • How to capitalize on Guyana and Suriname’s 25+ billion barrels of estimated crude
  • Which country will do best in a low-carbon world?
  • How can energy companies best navigate local politics and regulation?
  • What will happen to the local content-law being discussed in Guyana?
  • What will happen to the country’s future Production Sharing Agreements?
