Unter dem Titel Wametisé: Ideen für einen Amazofuturismus fördert ARCO nicht nur den Kunsthandel, sondern bietet auch einen Raum für Entdeckung und künstlerische Forschung. Das Programm entsteht in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institute for Postnatural Studies und wird von María Wills und Denilson Baniwa kuratiert.

Scholars have extensively analyzed this phenomenon under the concept of extractivism The objective of this paper is to explore the opportunities for Latin Americas mining sector amid rising global demand for minerals driven by the transition to renewable energy. This analysis is based on trade data from UN Comtrade, as reported by the World Integrated Trade Solutions platform of the World Bank.

Within just two decades, China has transformed from an insignificant player to a dominant force in Latin America, alongside the United States (US) and the European Union (EU). Recent actions by the Trump administration aimed at countering China's influence in LAC may inadvertently strengthen China's position in the region even further, as was seen during the first Trump administration. For the EU, which is in urgent need of a diversified supply of critical raw materials to navigate the clean and digital transition of its economy, the LAC region is now more strategically important than ever. The EU's envisaged partnership agreement with Mercosur, the South American trading block, will test the EU's commitment to deepening its partnership with Latin America through the conclusion of this agreement. The European Parliament is expected to vote on the proposed agreement during its current legislative term.

The article discusses a recent policy change implemented by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) to reduce bank lending and curb inflation. The BCV issued a circular on February 7, 2025, which raised the penalty for reserve requirement deficits from 28% to 60% annually. This measure also includes additional surcharges for repeated defaults within a 30-day period. These changes are designed to reduce bank lending by making it more costly for banks to fail in maintaining their required reserves, which could have a contractionary effect on the economy. In addition to the increased penalties, the BCV has made changes to the calculation of reserve requirements by eliminating certain discounts that were previously applied. The BCV is also facing challenges in managing the foreign currency supply in Venezuela, which remains insufficient despite strong tax collection. This has led to increased public spending in dollars, while the BCV has reduced its investment in hedging bonds to meet foreign currency demand.
